What is Facebook?

I never saw it really as being a blog, and it certainly isn't a forum. What exactly is it?

Just Another Thought...

Farrah Fawcett and Ed McMahon should be buried together and their headstone should read: We're Not Michael Jackson.

Flu

They're always saying on the news that we don't have to worry much about the flu spreading (I forget its exact name, we're not allowed to call it swine flu anymore) because our flu season is ending. What about the people that live far south enough from the equator? It would be nice if they got a vaccine ASAP.

Winter Birds

I put out some beef grease and peanutbutter; occasionally the odd chickadee drops by to peck at it. I've also put out peanuts; it's so fun to watch the crows and jays stop in and grasp them up. The robins are back already too; normally I'd love to have another winter snowfall, but not at their expense.

Catch-Up

I hope to catch up to everyone's journal soon (and to Scribble Fox's website too.) I found the best way to not spend forever on the computer is to spend some time on Delphi, then after I've touched base with everyone there go to Live Journal and then Scribble Fox's page. It's not that I'm Mrs Popularity or anything, but people I've got to know have disbanded and regrouped elsewhere; a lot of them here! I tried facebook, but all I got was people throwing snowballs at me and for some reason the delete function wasn't working; I found facebook to be very annoying. Also I bumped into everybody from my past, and I found that a little too overwhelming, if that makes sense. It's too bad because just about everyone I know is on there.

Anyhow, now that my work hours have calmed down (good in one way, not so much in another,) I should have more time to devote to catching up with people. I hope everyone had a great holiday, and I hope everything is great with all of us in 2009! Christmas Eve Guy and I spent at my mum's with her, my sister and my mum's neighbour. I had to work on Boxing Day. New Year's Eve was quiet, mainly because it was snowing outside, but one diehard set of a firework (yes, just one boom,) off in the snow somewhere. Guy and I toasted in the New Year with soda and watched Dick Clark's show. It's amazing how he's still hanging in there. I had to work New Year's Day, but at least I got time and a half.

I think 2009 should be an interesting year for the whole world.

Rainbow Around the Moon

Wikipedia says it's rare to see it, but it happens. I saw it last night. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Meme Time

Please leave a one-word comment that you think best describes me. It can only be one word.

No more.

Then copy & paste this in your journal so that I may leave a word about you. :)

Bleah

I've been working six day weeks and then doing the NDP phone bank on top of that. At least some of my work shifts are in the afternoon so I can sleep. That seems to be a big help right there.

Something Bugging Me

We were watching an old episode of NCIS and I saw something that I'm sure is correct but looks wrong to me. I found a photo of it online too: http://www.tv.com/susanna-thompson/person/1484/viewer.html?ii=3&grti=104&gri=1484 Why is she wearing the flag backwards?

Friends List Additions

Two people added me as a friend which I think is really great, so I added them as friends too even though I can't read their journals because they're in a different language and alphabet. You can never have too many friends, even with a language barrier.

Some Good News

I just found out from my mum that my aunt can travel anywhere she wants to within the EU and her medical insurance will cover her dialysis. Unfortunately her insurance won't cover that in North America.... :( But at least she can go places now.

R.E.M. Concert at Deer Lake Park

It was wonderful! That's about as much of a review I'm giving because I always seem to be speechless after their concerts (R.E.M.'s, not Deer Lake Park's!)

Holy crap my hair's getting white!

Jingle Bells

*It's starting to look a lot like Christmas,

in time for Mothers' Day...*

I think I should give my mum a bouqet of poinsettias for Mothers' Day. I can't believe it snowed last night! I looked outside my window this morning and there was still a smattering of snow on the dirt ground. I don't run well in snow, so I went right back to bed and slept in! When I checked The Weather Network I found out it was minus five (celcius, that's the same as piss ass cold in farenheit) with the dew point and windchill. Tomorrow if there's still snow on the ground I'll go for a walk and see what my running trail looks like. I can't believe how much it snowed in the interior!

I finally got a ticket to see R.E.M. on May 23 at Deer Lake Park. We couldn't afford for both of us to go so my husband generously let me purchase the ticket. The concert is on rain or shine; I wonder if it'll snow??

Nice Memorial

We went to my friend's memorial service yesterday. There were 300 people there in total. We'll miss him a lot.

Very Soon

Soon we'll have construction done to the outside of our house; 8-5, Mondays-Fridays, and they'll need access to the inside of our house too. It will go one for about 5 to 8 months. This will be fun the days after I've worked an evening shift. One of my neighbours works graveyards. Wish me strength.

How Interesting

The US election is so interesting this time around. I wonder how it will turn out. I think the whole world is paying attention to this one.
